HOW TO MEASURE THE STUMP

Every stump grinding job is unique due to factors such as stump size and accessibility. Therefore, it’s difficult to provide a standard cost for stump grinding.

However, please contact us for a free, no-obligation quote. We’ll need some details from you:

  1. Size of the Stump: Measure the diameter of the stump at its widest point on the cut surface (top of the stump). Next, measure the diameter at the widest point where the flare touches the ground. Large trees often have a significant flare at the base, making this measurement crucial. A picture of the stump taken from 4-5 meters away is also very helpful. There is a minimum charge of $80 for stumps up to 30cm in diameter.
  2. Quantity: Let us know how many stumps you need to be ground out. We offer quantity discounts.
  3. Tree Species: If you know the species of the tree, please provide this information. Some species, like maple, have extensive sub-surface root flares, requiring more extensive grinding. Additionally, certain softwoods are easier to grind than hardwoods. The larger the stump, the more important species identification becomes.
  4. Access: Our machines require 65cm (small Rayco RG13 ii) or 70cm (big machine Predator 38X) wide access all the way to the stump. The Rayco RG13 can be lifted if there’s an obstacle, provided the width is 65cm or more. The small machine is ideal for jobs with limited side access.
  5. Location: Provide details on where the stump is located (middle of the lawn, by a fence, front or back garden, raised flower bed) and your address.
